This Privacy Policy explains how ENGRAI handles your information. ENGRAI is developed by Vedant Desai ("we," "us," or "the developer"). The short version: ENGRAI runs on your device, and we don't collect or receive your content.

The short version

• ENGRAI does not maintain accounts nor requires registration.

• Your characters, personas, and conversations remain stored exclusively on your device.

• Your API keys for AI providers are kept locally on your device.

• We do not operate a server that receives your data, nor do we collect analytics regarding your usage of the application.

• The sole information transmitted outside your device is the message text that ENGRAI sends to the selected AI provider. This information is transmitted directly from your device to the provider of your choosing, utilizing your personal API key.

Data Collection Statement

We do not collect any data. ENGRAI does not necessitate user account creation, nor does it solicit your name or email address for operation. Additionally, it does not transmit your usage data, content, or identifiers to us. We maintain no user database for ENGRAI, as no server is involved in collecting such information.

Furthermore, we do not employ third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs (e.g., developer frameworks) within ENGRAI. Should this policy change in a future release, we will update this document accordingly, explicitly specify the nature of any data collected, and, in accordance with legal requirements, seek your consent prior to activation.

Bring Your Own Keys (BYOK)

To generate responses, ENGRAI adopts a Bring Your Own Key approach. This approach involves selecting a Large Language Model (LLM) provider of your preference. Depending on the provider and their policies, you may be required to supply your own authentication API key. This key is stored exclusively on your device and is used solely to authenticate requests to your selected provider. At no point do we receive, transmit, or store your API keys. The security of your keys is directly linked to the security of your device.

In-App & Conversational Data

All content generated and stored within ENGRAI, including characters, personas, scenarios, chat history, and settings, is stored exclusively on your device. We do not upload, back up, access, or moderate this data. Upon deletion of the application, this local data is likewise removed, except in cases where you have independently configured backups, such as through iCloud or iTunes device backups, which are managed independently by you and Apple, and not by us.

Photo Library Access

Should you opt to select a character and/or persona avatar, ENGRAI accesses your photo library exclusively to enable you to select an image and to save any avatars you generate to your personal library. This process is conducted locally on your device, except in cases where you have independently configured backups (such as via iCloud or other cloud photo library services), which are managed independently by you and the respective service provider (e.g., Apple). We do not receive or retain any of your photographs.

Cloud-Based API AI Service Providers

When you send a message in ENGRAI, the App sends the necessary text (which can include your prompts and the character/conversation context needed to generate a reply) directly from your device to the third-party AI provider you've connected — for example, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google.

Once that text reaches your chosen provider, the provider’s privacy policy and terms govern its processing, retention, and use. We do not control the provider’s practices. Review the provider’s policies and account settings before connecting it to ENGRAI. If you are concerned about how your prompts are handled, it is advisable to review the privacy policy of the provider you use and configure your account settings accordingly. We recommend connecting only with trusted providers and reviewing their data-use policies.

Purchases

ENGRAI is free of charge with no in-app purchases, trial versions, or direct monetary transactions for accessing any of the features within the app. We do not collect, request, or access any of your financial information, such as credit cards, check numbers, etc.

Children

ENGRAI is not designed specifically for children and is not offered in the Kids category of the App Store. The App’s age rating is determined through Apple’s App Store age-rating system and may vary by country or region.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users because ENGRAI does not operate user accounts or collect user information on the developer’s servers. Content sent to a third-party AI provider is governed by that provider’s privacy policy and terms.

Parents and guardians can manage access to ENGRAI using Apple’s parental controls and other device settings.

Security

ENGRAI has been developed to ensure that your sensitive data—including your keys and conversations—remains on your device rather than on a server susceptible to breaches. Consequently, the most critical safeguards are those under your control: maintaining your device secure through locking it, ensuring it is regularly updated, and safeguarding your API keys. While no storage method offers absolute security, local data retention minimizes a significant category of risk.

GDPR & CCPA/CPRA Privacy Rights

ENGRAI complies with global and regional data regulations (including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA) by keeping you in complete control of your information:
* Right to Know & Access: All application data, keys, and history are stored locally on your device and are accessible to you at any time.
* Right to Delete: We do not collect or store your data on external servers. You can permanently delete your data by clearing your history in the app or by uninstalling ENGRAI.
* Do Not Sell or Share: We do not collect personal information, meaning we never sell, share, or monetize your data.
* Third-Party Providers: Any data sent to external AI APIs is governed strictly by the privacy policy of the provider you choose to connect.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version with a new effective date, and if a change is significant — especially if a future version ever starts collecting any data — we'll make that clear. If you'd like a previous version, you can request it.
